American Express Membership Rewards - Car Rental Insurance - get a copy of the policy
I have the Green card. I called (800-338-1670) and got a copy of the insurance policy e-mailed to me.
It's very limited; I suggest everyone call and get the details for their card if you use the insurance.
Some of the limits I noticed:
- No car insurance coverage provided if you are a student receiving student benefits on your card
- No coverage of cars with MSRPs of over $50,000
- No coverage of full-size SUVs (e.g. Caddy Escalade or Lincoln Navigator)
- No coverage of "exotic" cars, e.g. BMW M3, Z3, 8 series, Jaguar XJS
Anyway, some of these excluded cars are things that you can reasonably get through Hertz, etc., that aren't really quite so "exotic."

hmm, this is not good. especially, after i called and asked for rental car coverage on my card 3 times, and the answer was always: yes....

Amex uses different insurance policies for each card type, and each card market.
The german Centurion card policy (from ACE insurance SA-NV, Belgium) explicitely excludes following rented cars : Aston Martin, Bentley, Bricklin(?), Corvette, Jaguar/Daimler, DeLorean(!), Excalibur, Jensen, Lamborghini, Lotus, Maserati, Porsche, Rolls-Royce.

The text reads:
"A PERSONAL, GOLD, Rewards Plus Gold Cardmember who is enrolled at an accredited four year college, university or graduate school in the United States and is receiving student benefits provided as a benefit of Cardmembership is not eligible for benefits under this Policy."
Pretty surprising, if you ask me. I never would have thought that getting student benefits would disqualify you from car rental insurance. I've never heard of it before; I was quite surprised to read it in the policy. They certainly don't mention that exception anywhere else.
