American Express Membership Rewards - Hertz & Avis Benefits with Centurion
What level of program status with Avis and Hertz do you receive with a Centurion card?
The info I could find only suggests a higher level than standard, but which level exactly? Thanks.
The Centurion card in which market?

In the US you'll be enrolled in the Avis President's Club (1 level under top tier - triple upgrades and other benefits) and the Hertz # 1 Gold (1 level above lowest tier - hardly any benefits)

In the UK this is one of the poores facets of The Centurion Card
Only benefit is Hertz Gold with upgrade possibilities, essentially the same as Plat. members.
I'd love to have the Avis PC...

Actually, the Centurion Hertz benefit is not as bad as it seems.
While Hertz only gives out Gold, which you can get otherwise just by asking, there is a special Centurion AWD (or whatever Hertz calls it). The code gives you a small discount and the best non-specialty car on the lot. The trouble is that you can't use other discount codes at the same time. This feels a lot like the FHR hotel situation.
Avis, OTOH, gives you regular PC status for all rentals. You can use any AWD you want and still be treated like any other PC member.

For the Platinum Card in the US, Hertz will put in your profile that you are to receive a one class upgrade on all rentals, which in my experience before becoming 5 Star (which is basically the same benefit ...) worked just as well as 5 Star at getting upgraded.
I would expect US Centurion members may receive the same.
How do you get them to put this into your profile? What's the magic incantation?

Would love to know as well - never had much luck with Hertz ;-(

The Centurion code in your Hertz profile is "AG" but it doesn't work very well. Although according to Hertz benefits are supposed to accrue regardless of the CDP you use, in my experience I rarely get an upgrade if I use any CDP other than Centurion.
The benefits are:
1) Weekend rental period starts Thrusday morning instead of Thursday afternoon (I believe 7 a.m. v. 4 p.m. but don't quote me).
2) If you rent a midsize you get a space-available upgrade to the best car on the lot up through Premium.
In my experience, begging for an upgrade at the Gold counter works well. It just doesn't happen automatically.

Another Hertz benefit for Centurion cardholders - 4 hr grace window instead of normal 1 hr grace window when you return the car.

Right, I forgot that one. Haven't tested it.
