I wrote an email to AMEX asking for breakup of miles posted to my DL skymiles account. I got this reply..

Please know we do not provide a breakdown of all the miles received. We just post the miles received for the month.

How ridiculous? How do i know if the miles posted is correct?

Welcome to everyone's pet peave about the skymiles card. If you search the amex and delta forums you will find a lot of complaints about this.
Some people have managed to get a CSR on the phone to go through their bill item by item and tell them if it is a single miles item or double miles item based on what the purchase was coded as (e.g Gas, Restaurant, etc.). The good news is that I have never heard of anyone finding a real case of amex getting it wrong (although you sometimes find out that for whatever reason your supermarket is listed as some kind of other store, etc.).
Anyway, if you really want to take the time, you can usually match everything up. I usually just compare the number of miles posted to the total amount of the bill and decide it is reasonably close based on the number and size of purchases that I should get double miles for.
The real pain in the butt is trying to figure out the bonus miles for promotions like double mile weekends as these points sometimes take three months to post, so they create confusion as to which promotion they are for, then you are matching up with items that are appearing on multiple bills, but only during some time period, and then excluding those items that already give you double miles. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif
