American Express Membership Rewards - AMEX just lost my comapny's business
Our firm (100,000+ worldwide employees) has ditched Amex; they now use Diners.
I heard the reason was because the annual fee was too high. I am amazed--at the amount of expenses we charge, I just thought they would have waived any annual fees in light of all the commissions.
Is this not SOP to waive annual fees for such a large company, and revneue generator?

Well, there are many companies dropping Diners for Amex. Mine is one of them.
Gawd, I love my corp AMEX, but I just heard for my company 300,000+ employees, is now issuing only Diner's to new employees! I hope they don't take mine away..

I know of an international professional services company which has revenue in excess of $6 billion in the US alone that's giving up Amex in favour of Diners.
I can't remember why though.
My firm (100,000 employees worldwide) dropped AMEX last month and now only offered DC.
We had a choice before between AMEX and DC, but now my AMEX was taken away and I received new DC card.
I personally do not care because I have my own AMEX card, but I am curious why?

Because Citicorp who owns USA Diners waived the annual fee and offers 60 day terms instead of the 30 day terms from AmEx.

I think the 60 day term has a lot to do with it.
If AMEX were to change to 60 day terms, Diners would likely go under.

You wouldn't happen to work for the same accounting firm, would you?

And if this is the same accounting firm that I think Moriarty mentioned, I am going to miss the corporate AMEX card. Besides hotels, restaurants and airlines, how many retailers take DC?

Well, I'm neither a CPA nor an accountant or auditor. I'm in the IT/Technology side of that said company. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

It has to do with the billing cycles...
Billing cycles:
1. 11/27 - 12/26
2. 12/27 - 01/26
I am making charges from billing cycle 1 as we speak. This bill [billing cycle 1.] is not considered late as long as the payment is posted on or before the end of billing cycle 2.
So in effect, you are charging things starting on 11/27, but post payment until 01/26.

Okay, I understand what you are saying. However, I always looked at is as 30 days to pay from the statement closing date.
Therfore in your case, you have 30 days from 12/26 to pay your 12/26 statement total. Which means you have to pay by 01/26.
If it were Diners Club you would have 60 days to pay from the 12/26 statement date.

I don't know about KPMG but I heard that Accenture were giving up/given up Amex as well as D&T.
There we go, some companies named! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
