American Express Membership Rewards - Transferring Canadian Amex to US Amex Account???

Has anyone ever transferred their Canadian dollar Amex card and account to an American (actual US based) account and card?
Any insight to the process and success would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I've done it.

I simply called to Amex customer service and explained what I wanted to do and why. After I was transfered around, I came to someone who could do it. They took all the usual applicaiton info plus the info on my CAN$ card. I cannot remember if they were able to tell me right away whether the card was approved or not, but it did seem pretty painless. They require a US address (you should be ready to convince them you have moved to the US).

FYI, I went through these numbers:

setup new US Card: 800-658-4037

later I was transfered to 1-800-453-2639. I worked with Elaine and/or Beckie there.

This was probably 3 years ago so of course things may be different now.

I kept my Canadian card, so nothing happened.
