hello, I applied for the AMEX SPG card, and got it too.
question is, I found that this AMEX card was linked to SPG account# 5011xxxxxxx, however, my SPG account# is actually "A5011xxxxxxx". the first letter A is missing. will this be a problem?
I called AMEX and apparently, they dont have a clue.. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
thanks

Don't worry, you will be fine, as long as the numbers are correct. AmEx computers can't deal with letters in SPG accounts. Also, if your SPG status will change, the letter will change as well (e.g., P for Platinum).

That's correct, the letter stands for the membership level (A for basic to P for platinum).
Your SPG account number remains the same.

I don't even think the letter actually means much to Starwood. Whenever I've called them, they seem to be more concern about the numbers than the letter. Your status (A, G, or P) is in their computer.
