American Express Membership Rewards - Points Not Transferring to SPG
My IF bonus and first's month's bill transferred to SPG but June & July have not. I called SPG who told me to call AMEX. AMEX said my SPG # is being rejected. SPG said no that is the right # and it is active. Called AMEX again who put a research request thru. Won't tell me the results. They said I have to wait for a letter. Sent an email to SPG and no response in 4 days. Still no points. Are AMEX and SPG always so unresponsive?

Pat -- Make sure that the SPG number you gave AMEX does not have a letter in front of it (e.g., P for platinum).
Eugene, thanks I did that. It didn't have the letter.

Well, so much for that theory... FWIW, that was the reason why my points from AmEx were rejected by Starwood for a couple months. After getting a run around from AmEx, a helpful SPG rep suggested this as a possible problem, so I called AmEx to remove the letter. From that point forward my points transferred to SPG very smoothly with no delay.

Pat -
I had a similar situation where I would call AMEX and they would blame Starwood and visa versa. So, I confrenced agents from AMEX and Starwood together to duke it out....and it worked. There was some issue with the promotional code that AMEX sended to starwood to verify.
Good luck!
It's very frustrating. Talked to SPG again and they said they can't help me I have to talk to Amex. Amex says they are checking on it but it's been 10 days and they haven't resolved anything. Last night they said when their inquiry is completed they'll send me a letter. I asked her why they just can't take care of it and send SPG my points. She blamed it on SPG. I'm thinking about cancelling AMEX and SPG and just sticking with the other programs I belong to. It's not worth the hassle.

Still no points. On 7/31 after getting the run around again, I asked AMEX to call SPG while I was on the phone which they did. CSR comes back with some excuse about the addresses not matching. Now how can that be when I only have 1 address? She says that she is faxing the info over to SPG right away and the points will post in 24 hrs. Yesterday, I called again and person tells me there are no notes about me talking to someone on 7/31 and no one has faxed anything to SPG. He is not very helpful so I hang up and call back and ask for supervisor. Explain the situation all over again to the CSR who puts me on hold and comes back and tells me I may have to wait 6-8 weeks for my open inquiry to be resolved and I will get a letter. I then demanded and got the supervisor. She's very nice and finds all the notes from the 31st. The department that is supposed to fax the info has not done it. She says that she will take care of it and I will have the points by Wednesday and then gives me 1000 bonus miles for the hassle. At least I remembered to get her name this time. So should we take bets as to whether I will get the points by Wednesday?
I finally got my points today! Took long enough. The nice supervisor at AMEX gave me 1000 points the first time I talked to her. When she still wasn't able to get the issue resolved, she offered me a $75 credit on my bill. I told her I'd rather have points. She then gave me another 2500 points. Sometimes aggravation has it's rewards.

How long did it take for your "initial use" sign-up bonus to post? I'm about to get through the second billing cycle, and no points of any kind have transferred.
Thanks.
I didn't have a signup bonus. I got the email for the 4000 first use bonus after I applied for the card and they won't give me the bonus points.
