American Express Membership Rewards - Amex Hilton Card - any special bonuses offered?

I found that the above card only offers 7500 HHonors points for initial purchase. I find this to be somewhat less lucrative than the Amex Starwood card. Also, the 5 HHonors points per $1 spent is also nothing to write home about. The only real positive I see in this card is the no annual fee.
With all the other promotions out there with the other Amex products, Im wondering if anyone has received a better offer than the above mentioned 7500 HHonors points for applying. Thanks.

Months ago I applied for the card for 7,500 bonus points, and 2,500 HHonors points if I spent $2,500 within 12 months of membership.
Unfortunately I haven't used this card enough, only for HHonors stays. Like you said, this card is not lucrative as the Starwood card and the only benefit is the no annual fee. I have it just to add more HHonors points to my account from Hilton stays.

Discovered the hard way that a 5-7% exchange rate disparity exists (at least between USD conversion from CDN$) with the Hilton card. 5 points per hotel dollar does NOT make up for this gouging. I guess if the card is free, they expect enough foreign travel conversion to pay the fee that might normally be charged. I will continue to use the card in the U.S. for Costco purchases and U.S. Hilton stays, but never again out of the U.S.!!
Edit to add NOT

That's strange. I've used it numerous times in Europe and Asia (when I stay at Hiltons overseas) and have found the rate is the same as with Starwood AMEX which, I believe, is 2%. Perhaps opushomes case was an anomoly? Or have they changed the rules recently (my last overseas use was Dec 2001)?

Now on Hilton's Web site it only offers 7,500 points but the brochures they have at Hiltons still say up to 10,000 (7,500 + 2,500). I kept a copy and mailed entire brochure to them so that they found out it's actually 10,000. They said it was only 7,500 at the beginning.
I too just keep it for Hilton Stays and dig it's no annual fee reason.
