I got my Amex Starwood Card in the mail today and was shocked to see the bonus points are 1000. I had applied online via the site which showed 10,000 bonus points. I did do a print screen so I have it saved to my computer.

Any advice/insights/ on how to get the other 9,000 points would be appreciated.

Feeling somewhat stupid right now!

same exact thing just happened to me. called AMEX and asked to speak to a supervisor. she told me to fax her the email i received from starwood promising 4,000 bonus points on first use of card. i did this as well as faxing her the page from the AMEX website that states the same thing. she received my fax and said that i will now receive the 4,000 points. (i called again just to verify and am told that my account will get the 4,000 points in about "4 to 6 weeks".) sadly, this is my typical experience - i always seem to have to chase down the miles and points offered. good luck with getting your points! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Well, when I signed up in July, the deal was 6000 bonus points. 1000 for initial use, and then 500 per stay, up to a total of 6000. The points have all appeared as I've been staying at Starwoods on a weekly basis. They all appear each month after the AMEX statement closes.

There never has been an offer with 10,000 immediate bonus points - which makes their offers a little misleading. Most of the points come from making stays at Starwood properties. The 10,000 offer included 4,000 initial bonus - so it would appear you are owed 3,000 - and then have the opportunity (if you stay a lot of times) to earn 6,000 more.

I'd try contacting Starwood before Amex, but be prepared for a run-around (based on what others have posted) before getting your 3K.
