I have read on this forum somewhere that if you have a miles earning credit card, make purchases, then transfer that balance out to another card, that you still earn miles on that money.
However, when calling Delta AMEX and United VISA both told me that you DO NOT earn miles on transfer in NOR transfer out.
Can anyone clarify this point? Thanks

No miles are earned for the transfer in (and obviously not out.) What I suspect has been said is that if you make say $500 of purchases on mileage earning with high interest rate credit card A and then transfer the balance to low interest credit card B, the 500 miles you earned on credit card A are of course still yours.

If I remember correctly, there was a one-month promo last year on the Delta gold AMEX card which gave miles for transfers in. Had a limit of 20K.

AA Citibank ran a promo in the late spring/early summer in which up to $10K of balance transfers would earn miles. It was apparently a targeted promo for new applicants.
I applied, and transferred balances from a non-miles earning card and had no problem at all.....perhaps if you called them you might find that they'd do the same for you.
Best wishes.

NO -
As part of my transition from Visa to Amex,
I transferred a balance from my Worldperks Visa (which had already earned miles) to take advantage of the AMEX 6 months @ 2.9%, so I got miles on the $$ anyway. Unfortunately you can't double dip.
