American Express Membership Rewards - Amex forget to send BA Amex statement in June

This is a credit card, with certain obligations to pay up before interest kicks in.

Today, I received my BA/Amex statement dated June 20, just a few days after the statement dated July 20 arrived.

Enclosed was a 'letter' (Dear Cardmember - so personal!) saying that they didn't send me a statement in June because of unspecified problems, but that it was OK as I paid by direct debit (automatic bank transfer)!

I wonder how this poor service affected those who don't pay until they can check their statement.

Is there no end to the bounds of Amex's unique customer service?

That is a real bad customer service.
And the poeple who did not pay? I guess Amexco has in the fine print something like: Even if we make a mistake - you have to pay or go to jail .. or something like this.

I received the same letter this morning. I didn't even realise they hadn't sent a June statement... I do everything online!!

I wondered too about those that don't have a D/D arrangement but as I settle in full each month by that method, I cant shed any light on it.

Did you notice the money going out of your bank account before you got the statement? If so, and it had been me, I'd have been on the phone to my bank straight away to get it refunded.

The words "direct debit guarantee" work very well for me http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I read all my bank/credit card/investment account statements and transactions online, so I'm aware of any amounts due before the paper statements even arrive and usually dont even open them. I thought everyone did that these days! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

D/D guarentee is only for a wrong amount or mistake, which doesn't really apply in this case. They made a mistake not sending the statement, but the amount they deducted was in accordance with the agreement signed with them.

I got my June statement no problem. When I had my Platinum Card I paid by DD but since switching to the BA Premium Plus I haven't bothered to set up a new DD. Like dnw I check my statement on-line and use my on-line banking to pay my bill. I normally set-up the payment so it arrives with Amex at the last possible moment.

I don't know why, Amex CS just can't stop writing to me.

I mentioned the BA June statement ballsup above. I'm Plat, upgraded from Gold some years ago, and also use the 'free' BA Premier Plus credit card for that card's benefits.

Today, I have a letter from Amex telling me that as I had been such a good gold credit card customer - er, NEVER used it and sent it back to Amex in small pieces some time ago - they want to let me have the gold charge card (which I gave up wwhen they changed me to Plat ....)

All name and address details are identical. Don't the Amex systems talk to each other? Obviously not.
