About 3 months ago, I got a mailing from Starwood/Amex. I still (fortunately) have the mailing.
I was offered 10K points, with 4K upon first use of my Amex/Starwood card, then 1K for first stay at Starwood, and 500 points for next 10 stays. To get the 4K bonus I had to use the card within a year of receipt.
Getting the first use (4K) points was a nightmare and I nealy canceled my Amex card. I called 7 times in the last 2 months, 5 calls to Amex and 2 calls to Starwood. Starwood finally gave me the points after they realized I was not going to give up. It shows up in my account as " SPG CC BY AMEX - RESOLUTION"
We even conferenced Amex and I am not sure who is responsible for this mess. Starwood overall tried to resolve this mess; Amex was most unhelpful.
Has anyone had a similar experience? Should I write to Starwood or Amex or both. This experience was not needed. I want to send someone a copy of the direct mail piece I received.
