During his first address to the City Council in January, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg said that he was so pleased that American Express was returning to its New York headquarters that he was urging New Yorkers to use only their American Express cards.
And yesterday, his company, Bloomberg L.P., sent its employees an e-mail message saying that "Bloomberg is switching to the American Express Corporate Card." (The company has been using Diners Club, whose headquarters are in Chicago.)

Interesting...
And they have a branded credit card from First USA/VISA.

By the way, as for corporate charge card, Fidelity is switching from Amex
because of Amex's luring Fidelity's employees.
Their co-branded charge card will remain though.

Fidelity Cancels American Express Cards After Raid, Herald Says
Boston, March 13 (Bloomberg) -- Fidelity Investments, the
largest U.S. mutual fund company, canceled its agreements with
American Express Co. for travel services and corporate charge
cards, a month after American Express hired four mutual fund
managers away from Fidelity, the Boston Herald reported.
Fidelity senior vice president Rob Middlebrook gave no reason
for the decision in a March 8 memo to employees obtained by the
Herald.
``From time to time we review our vendor relationships and
occasionally make changes when it makes sense to do so,'' Anne
Crowley, a spokeswoman for Boston-based Fidelity, told the paper.
American Express in February hired Nick Thakore, Robert
Ewing, Doug Chase and Telis Bertsekas to set up a Boston office
for its Minneapolis-based asset management unit.

Interesting story about Fidelity / AmEx. I suspect that Fidelity customers who are using or want the AmEx cards will probably be more upset at Fidelity for canceling the agreement than AmEx for taking away the PMs.

American Express has a great historic relationship with the city. They are a sponsor of Restaurant Week, Paint the Town Red promotions, and I believe the recent Red, White, and Blue tourism promotions. I'm glad to use my Amex card whenever I go out!
