Yesterday I received a Silver Preferred card instead of Gold. It cames with the usual upgrade certs for Gold.
I called AMEX and they said a mistake was made and we should have gotten Gold cards. They will be reissued in 4-6 weeks.

As a practical matter, you will rarely ever show the card. As long as the database is correct, upgrading will not be a problem, since it is mostly done by phone. USAirways is one of the few carriers where second tier elite is still useful for upgrades. They actually make seats available. I am Centurion, but have Chairman's at US, so I don't need this feature at that airline, but my wife is Gold, so I know how good it is. Most other airlines will welcome you to their programs with glowing descriptions of the benefits, but upon closer inspection, you will find they put very few upgrade seats in inventory prior to departure. The higher tier members will generally grab these before the window opens for the next tiers, although you still have a decent shot at the gate, just not the security of knowing you have the seat for sure.

I got my US Gold card with upgrade certs yesterday.
For the last 3 years I always got the Silver first (with Certs) then the gold card arrived a week or so later (with certs)
I got my Silver last week. Haven't seen gold yet
I am confused....what AMEX card gives you gold status at USAir?

Does anyone know when / if Amex will offer their UK Centurion holders ANY airline benefits?

The US Centurion Card (aka, Black Card) gives the holder gold status on US, DL, and CO.
As in gold status - you get the 100% mileage bonus on us scareways?
Yes, as Gold you get 100% mileage bonus on US. You also get 2 one-way Systemwide upgrades for *ANY* US flight anywhere they fly. This is expecially useful on those discounted K class fares to Europe (usually $300-$500) from PHL. I still haven't found a US airline with Business class service that beats USAirways Envoy service on their new A330 planes.
Just to confirm, I received my silver card then last week I received the Gold (thru Amex program)

So as many of you know Us Air mistakenly sent out Silver DM cards (along with upgrade certificates) with a promise of Gold DM cards to come.
I received my gold card today along with 4 more upgrade certs!
Whoo hoo! Now I suppose I'll have to fly them this year.
