I have no idea why, but I was reading Amex's Changes to its Ts & Cs and found this:
Under Car Rental Loss and Damage Insuance, a new exclusion: "loss of use fees imposed by the Rental Company."
Since that fee can be about whatever the Rental Company wants it to be, this could be a lot of money.
That's no good. What kind of card do you have?
A few years back we were driving on the autobahn at about 130MPH, when this German guy in a van decided to smash into the front of our car as we were going around a turn.
To make a long story short, the repair bill was about $20,000. I don't remember exactly what it was off-hand, but I think the loss of use charges were in the several hundred to $1,000 range. Fortunately Visa picked up the whole bill.

Centurion, but I think this notice was for all cards. Other new exclusions:
Failure to return keys to the Rental Company when the vehicle is stolen;
Theft or damage to unsecured vehicles.
AmEx's rental insurance has never been as good as the BofA US Airways card I used to carry.
When I get my Visa Signature packet I'm going to compare the details of the insurance program. AmEx's is about as stripped down as you can get, so I'd expect the Visa one is better.
