Doppy Feb 20, 02, 10:39 pm This has been discussed here before. I don't have any info, but you can do a search. d KenF Feb 21, 02, 6:31 am Originally posted by WhiteAMEX: If I deposit a certain amount into The Centurion Bank could I be given a Centurion card? In the UK, if you have more than $500,000 on deposit with Amex Private Banking, they will pay your annual Centurion Card Fee. Whilst this isn't exactly what you asked, it is an indicator of the kind of level that they consider "Interesting". Other people have also discussed the Amex HNW and VHNW labels, that are applied to customers that are considered to have very extensive (and liquid) assets. You can search for the details, but we are definitely talking multi-Million $$$$ totals, usually with an international bent (so that you are a potential customer for tax mitigation schemes). If you've got $1M to deposit, it'd certainly try telling them you'd really like to do business with them, but, "by the way" what is this Centurion Card you've heard so much about? It may well get results... Ken. In the UK there is a Private Banking Team which arranges the fee payments and also recommends you to the Centurion or Platinum teams as you wish. Amex Private Bank customers have their accounts flagged and have their cards issued in a particular range which generates certain other advantages. I know this to be true of cards issued in the UK and Benelux, but cannot state for sure on other cards. Nick Doppy Mar 1, 02, 3:13 pm As far as I know, AmEx's private banking is only open to non-US residents and non-US citizens. WhiteAMEX - since you list your location as NY,NY, you probably aren't eligible. I'm not sure if AmEx's domestic US Centurion Bank/Membership B@nking offers anything similar to private banking. d KenF Mar 6, 02, 2:57 am Originally posted by Merry: I think you will find it is $1m on deposit for Amex Private Banking to pay for you AMEX card fee (or fees). ... Nick I'm pretty sure it was GBP 300,000 (I applied my usual inaccurate exchange rate to get the dollar amount http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif) when I first got my membership pack, but I was part of the first intake, so I guess they will have moved up the bar since (as they have moved up the fee ... ) I'd like to think that $1M on deposit would allow you some 'pull' with Amex! Either way, you'd really have to want a balck card in order to choose that particular route http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Ken. "You want cool?
