American Express Membership Rewards - Black Amex Card

Am I correct in assuming that the Centurion® Card is the totally black American Express Card (not just the card with a Black Amex symbol on the back)?

I am from Australia and we have no such product here. I have an Australian issued Platinum card, which is provided by invitation only to the top spending / paying Gold card holders (like I assume the Centurion® Card is offered to the top US Platinum cardholders).

My question is, how hard is it to get the Black Amex card and what type of spend levels / relationship do you need to have with Amex to obtain one and what are the pros and cons of the card?

The Centurion card is currently only available in the US, UK, Hong-Kong and Germany.

For European based members (and some others..) , the card exists also as International Centurion Card billed in US$ and serviced by Amex Intl services in UK.
