American Express Membership Rewards - Platinum Renewal 10,000 Points

Does anyone know if Amex will give you 10,000K if you renew. I remember hearing about this some time ago? Any specific approach to use?

A search will likely reveal multiple threads discussing Amex's retention bonus.

Amex Canada had offered me 10K points in November of last year. Perhaps, Amex USA will do the same.

As pointed out, it is not at all an automatic 'renewal bonus', but an attempt at 'retention' when you call in to cancel your card.
At worst, you won't be offered a bonus and your card will be cancelled as requested.

Yes, i can confirm that when you threaten to cancel they will give you the 10,000 points.

Once in your account, you can transfer the points out and STILL cancel if you want. Of course, they are taking a "good faith" gamble that you will stay with them another year. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
