Received the AMEX cards last week. Did not have a Starwood account and have not received any info regarding the membership number linked to the cards. Is there a time delay for Starwood to get it out to me? Do I need to call them once I receive the number to make sure that the points stay in the account until we have 20,000? Thanks to FTers we'll have a better return on our $ then using the Marriott card for non-Marriott purchases. Thanks for the basic info.

The card directly linked to a Starwood Starpoint account is a Starwood AMEX Omni card.

I also have an AMEX Plat, but I did not get any information on linking that to my Starwood account. Maybe it's there in the fine print, and I could not find it.

Maybe Centurion links, as it comps a Starwood gold, and maybe even a Starwood Plat.

msrohud -- Most likely, AmEx has established a new Starwood number for you. Give them (AmEx customer service) a call and find out for sure where your points are going.

I'm in the same situation. I received my Starwood Amex on 12/31/01, and so far have received nothing from Starwood. I called Amex twice about this issue. The first time, the computers were "updating" so they couldn't check anything, but gave me an 800 number for Starwood to call. I called it, and it was just another number for Amex. The second time I called, the person said that they can't give out the SPG account number that's linnked to the Starwood Amex card "for security reasons." Hmmm. I asked, "Without giving me the number, can you at least see if there's a SPG account number on my card at all?" He said "I'm certain there is," which of course really doesn't answer the question. I'll give Starwood a call during business hours to see if they know who I am yet.

Don't worry http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

AMEX has opened a new account for you and in about 2-3 weeks. your Starwood membership card will arrive..they also upgrade you to SPG plus.

It happened to me as well eventhough i had provided my Starwood #.
