DL/AMEX 50K Mile Matching Promo Question

In July, I never received "The DL/AMEX letter” saying I qualified for "Frequent Flyer Matching Mileage" promotion although I met all requirements: applied for a new Gold SkyMiles card on-line (issued, Oct. 4, 2000) and spent $10,000 on credit card within six months.
Since July 27th, I’ve been calling AMEX Customer Service weekly, requesting assistance, but they continue to say my case is pending. Today, however, I learned the case code indicates I was NOT among the first 10,000 people to apply. When I said I know someone whose card was issued on October 10th (four days after mine) and who did qualify (and that September 15th deadline is looming), the agent suggested I FAX customer liaison explaining the problem and supplying "proof."
I will FAX the letter but am not convinced it will help, and how do I go about furnishing proof? List my friend's name but NEVER a SkyMiles number!
Anyone who qualified for the promotion, received "The Letter," whose card was issued after Oct 4, 2001, and who feels comfortable having his or her name listed in my FAX, please write to me.
Otherwise, does anyone have other suggestions and/or proof of the date when the 10,000 on-line application threshold was met?

I also got an Amex/DL card issued on Oct. 10, 2000 and ran up $10,000 by end of April 2001, and I got THE letter. Something obviously went wrong with Amex' records; keep after them. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Are there others out there whose card was issued after Oct. 4, 2001 and who got the letter? Please post your reply and help Shannonk with this.

Is it possible that you applied for your card before the effective date of the 50,000 mile program/offer. According to the fine print, the 50k Delta Skymiles was offered to the first 10,000 approved applicants who applied online between Oct 2, 2000 and Oct 20, 2000.

Since your card was issued on October 4, 2000 is it possible that you applied prior to October 2, 2000?

Is it possible that you applied for the card using the wrong URL? I vaguely remember when I signed up for this card the first week of October. I seem to recall that there were a couple of special offers at the time, one of which was known as Delta Double Miles, offering the 50K mileage bonus. If you took a different offer (such as a fee-free year, different spending bonuses, etc.), you might not have been considered as part of the pool of 10,000 for the DDM offer.

Rmccamy: I applied for a Gold Delta Skymiles Credit Card (and the matching promotion) after reading about it in a posting on FlyerTalk (and using a link I found within that posting (www.americanexpress.com/deltadoublemiless)).
