I was pretty happy about my recently
acquired Amex Platinum issued in Thailand notwithstanding the more than US$550 annual fee, because among other things, it allows free access to NW and CO lounges when flying those airlines regardless of the class of flying.
However, I just also just recently discovered that my Citibank Gold Visa issued in Thailand(with a small fraction of the annual fee compared with Amex Plat) allows free access to NW lounges in the US, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Manila, Seoul and Taipei, with NO requirement to be flying with Northwest.
I fly Star Alliance airlines, but will only get Gold status later this year. Therefore, I am using my Citibank Visa to access NW lounges in the meantime, if I fly economy on TG, UA, or other Star alliance airline.
I find it a bit irritating that the exclusive Amex Plat with the large fee isn't able to give me this perk, while a relatively cheap Gold Visa does.
Anyone heard of any plans to fix this??
