American Express Membership Rewards - Free Platinum luggage tags

I am posting this here as well as on The Buzz. I just got myself two free American Express UK Platinum luggage tags.

Here is what I did: I called about a month ago to the UK Platinum number and asked about getting a Platinum card even though I live in Denmark. They said that if I had a US Platinum card then they could transfer it over but otherwise I hardly had a chance. Then I asked if they could send me some information about the benefits of the UK Platinum card. They said "Sure" and took my address. Quite some time passed so I suspected that they had just thrown my address in the paper bin - but then today, I got a rather large letter contaning "Traveller Services" for the Platinum card. It had everything (except the card): applications for free Priority Pass, Hilton Gold, free Platinum and Gold additional cards, complete insurance rules, and a listing of which airlines would upgrade you etc. Quite interesting.

.... but you can't apply for the Plat services like free Priority pass, since it needs approval from Amex.

The pack that you received is the standard travel pack that is sent to new Platinum members.

I have about 4 of the packs, the little tags are great, especially for me as Boarding Staff beleive me when I say that I am flying business or have been in the Clubhouses (Long Story....).

I also have 2 Black versions of the tags from Centurion that are very cool as they are so understated.

What do they look like?

With my PLAT, all I got was a black leather baggage tag (business card holder) with the Centurion embossed.

However, that was a few years ago, maybe we are being taken for granted?

They look like miniature versions of the Cards (About 75% of actual side, but without your name or account number). They are in two parts that sit together so that you can write your name and adress inside them.

The US Plat members no longer get them. Try ebay and buy some off European cardholders if you are desparate to get your hands on them.....although it is pretty naff to put it on your luggage to be honest!
