Hi, I just got a Blue card from American Express. It has a chip in the card. It seems to have a free blue loot program that we can collect points. Any comment? Thanks.

I believe you can redeem points for merchandises which is harder to judget the value. It seems that merchandises are valued at their MSRP which nobody pays.

I personally prefer cash rebate or FF miles/points.

my 2 cents

The Blue Loot program is, IMHO, not as valuable as linking it to your Membership Rewards account. When I got the card a year ago, your Blue card had to be linked to a non-Blue, non-Optima card (i.e., Green, Gold, Platinum) to have your Blue charges funneled into your MR account, but that rule may have changed.

I have a Blue card. The rewards do not match other Amex no-fee cards such as Starwood AmEx... and the chip is nothing special--pretty much a marketing gimmick. Best part of the card is the 9 month introductory 0% APR on purchases (including $ spent to opent bank accounts!). Best to rack up the charges, pay no interest for 9 months, then pay the balance, use the points for rewards and close the account in favor of Starwood card... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif
