I have a gold right now-- besides the free bus class ticket and the travel assistance, what do I get to make the $300 worth it? Seems like a lot of money just to feel special, and I worked to hard for my $ to waste it...
American Express Membership Rewards - Amex PlatinumView Full Version : Amex Platinum erlftex Jan 30, 01, 1:40 pm I have a gold right now-- besides the free bus class ticket and the travel assistance, what do I get to make the $300 worth it? Seems like a lot of money just to feel special, and I worked to hard for my $ to waste it... DelrayChris Jan 30, 01, 2:47 pm I would suggest searching the Amex Forum, and the AMEX web site.. I love my Platinum card, and find it is worth the meager US$300.00 / year.. If you fully implement your Platinum Benefits, you will realize a savings of US$7,500.00 / year.. Call Platinum Customer Service at: 800-525-3355, and speak with a rep... You will be asked to verify your yearly salary (i.e., W-2, etc.), and if it is not US$100K or greater, or if you do not have US$100K in liquid assets they will not issue you a card.. BUT!!!! if you have been a Gold Card holder, in good standing, for more than six months, American Express waives the mandatory salary/asset verification of US$100,000.00 / year.. Most people do not know this so be sure to mention you are a current Gold Card holder when applying over the phone.. There are a great deal of threads on this board where people are complaining, and moaning about how Amex sucks, etc.. Well I have never had a problem with them.. And don't mind people complaining about the US$300.00 / year fee, if you actually do a little research, you can make this back with the benefits you receive, in no time.. If you have any questions, drop me a line =] Regards, DelrayChris ahrz Jan 30, 01, 4:53 pm It's like a Rolls-Royce : if you ask for the price, it's not the right car for you http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif erlftex Jan 30, 01, 5:22 pm DelRayChris, $7500 in benefits? What do you mean? Ahrz, actually, that quote was JP Morgan and about yachts, not Rolls Royces, but your point is right-- I am a guy who always wants to know the price. james Jan 30, 01, 6:43 pm Delray - gibberish.
