When you take the Green line can you buy a ticket with cash ? debit card or ????

I heard that they wanted people to have some kind of TAP card , but I would only be going to LAX for one trip and just want to pay cash.

thanks for your help

out-of-date info deleted. cash fares are available only on buses.

the "green line" bus is a free bus that circulates the loop at LAX and takes you to the aviation station of the green line train, and takes green line passengers to LAX.

There seems to be some confusion here. Green line is not a bus it is light rail, and yes, you need to buy a TAP card, which is $1. The paper ticket has been discontinued. However, you can keep the TAP card for your next visit to Los Angeles. The LAX shuttle bus to/from LAX to Aviation station is free. You can purchase the TAP card plus $1.50 one-way fare with cash or credit/debit card (I recommend a $5 day pass, which allows you to transfer to Blue line to reach Downtown LA or Long Beach instead of one-way fare).

If you want to take a bus to/from LAX, you need to take FlyAway Bus. You pay the driver when you board. No cash allowed... credit/debit card only.

Per their website, you can still pay cash for one trip: http://www.metro.net/riding/fares/

No, let me clarify.

1. You cannot use cash to board a train in LA. A ticket is required, this has always been the case.
2. There is no fare box on the train to accept your cash so you must buy a ticket at the train station before boarding. Before, you could use cash to pay for a paper ticket, but that has been discontinued. You now need a TAP card to board the trains.
3. The website is technically correct... You can use cash (as opposed to credit or debit card) to load the value onto your TAP card at train stations.
4. You can pay with cash on board buses. TAP card not required.

I use the Metro everyday. Trust me...
