Marriott Rewards (including Ritz-Carlton) - Effect of premier card with miles earning style?

I just registered for the delta 3x miles promotion when you stay at marriotts and therefore have changed my earning preference from points to miles.

My questions:

1. I use the marriott premier card ($85 annual fee) - is this impacted, by changing my earning style to miles? Or do I still get points?

2. this promotion for airline miles, is a good move... right?

You receive points using your Marriott Rewards Premier Credit Card. Stays will award you miles.
