Can anyone link or tell me how much the fees are and what changes can be made to tickets booked with Saver Awards? I've read the restrictions on United.com but I'm not smart enough to figure out what they are saying?

In a nutshell, with Super Saver tickets I can change my _____________________________ for a fee of ____________________.

Thanks.

if this isn't sufficiently clear, Award ticketing options/service fees (http://www.united.com/web/en-US/content/mileageplus/awards/travel/ticketing.aspx), then please phrase a specific situation and the forum will try to answer.

That was very helpful, thank you. The presentation of the table/matrix was much easier to comprehend than the link that was provided at united.com when I was pricing award tix.

Can changes be made to the name of the traveler(s) of award tickets?

No, you must cancel the tkt, refund the miles & then get a new tkt for the other person

It may also is an option, if you have the miles, to book the 2nd person's ticket now, and see if there is a schedule change that will allow you to redeposit the 1st person's ticket without a "redeposit fee".

Also - in your situation, what you are proposing isn't really a change. It's a redeposit of the first person's ticket. The 2nd person's ticket is then a new transaction.

Will United notify me if there is a schedule change or do I have to keep checking?

Will United notify me if there is a schedule change or do I have to keep checking? That can be a little iffy in the real world -- best to check and not be caught if UA does not notify you.

Yes, you don't want UA to notify you - usually by then they've re-routed you. Best to call in when the schedule change causes an illegal connection.

Why would they reschedule you to connection they know is illegal?

It's automatic from the computer - they change and only look at individual flights first, and then only days later does SHARES realize it's an illegal connection.

is there a grace period (e.g., 24 hours) for cancelling Saver Award tickets?

Yes - 24 hours, unless you're a 1k and then there is no charge.

Fair enough - but many of the OP's questions are basic enough that the FAQ may help. If only I knew who "United FAQ" was so we could ask him/her to start completing that thread.

How soon after cancelling an award tickets your miles would be deposited back to your account? Can you cancel it online or have to call?

Should be instantly, but some folks have had to call in to redeposit faster.

Seems to depend if the itin can be cancelled by the res agent without it needing to be sent out for a manual whatcha-call-it! Usually whenever Manuel is sitting on the cancellation request it requires a follow-up call 7 to 10 days later, and pressing ONE for English may require a little longer wait on hold.

I see that you can cancel an award ticket but do not ask for the miles to be deposited ($75.00 fee), then make a completely different reservation and apply the miles to it. Passenger stays the same. Am I correct?
If it is so, can you do it all online or have to call an agent.
Thanks!

not sure but I think thats the case Only if your O/D doesnt change and your not within the 21 days when you want to fly. Changes to the O or D will mean having to redeposit, being within 21 days has its own fees

Of cause being a Plat/1K/GS negates all the above since everything is free
