First off, i'm new here and I love reading all the posts. Thank you for all the great info! I do have a quick question though.
I am currently a US Airways Silver member but booked a United award trip on United.com. The trip is on US airways metal.
I used 12500 United miles to fly PHL to SEA (great deal!). I was wondering if I would still be eligible for upgrades on the flight due to my US Airways status? If not upgrades, can I at least board zone 1, select a preferred seat etc?
Thank you, I hope I explained this well enough!!

Welcome to FT!
You can't get complimentary upgrades on award tickets.
The only way that's possible is if you're a Platinum or CP, earned the special dividend at 85k PQMs, and the ticket has to come from US miles on US metal (i.e. can't book an award using another *A carrier's miles).
Now, it's possible to get a GoUpgrade if it's available, but that's your only chance for an upgrade.
For Y seating, you would be entitled to whatever perks you would have based on your US status.

Ok, gotcha. Thanks for such a good response! Does this also mean I can not board in zone 1 and have a free checked bag?
You would get your US Airways *S benefits with the exception of the upgrade chance.

Note that you would need to switch your FF# on the reservation from your UA one to your US one at some point. If the system views you as a UA General Member, you won't get elite benefits.
Not a big deal...I've done this exact thing several times. Book UA one-way award (on any *A carrier really...), then call and flip the FFP to US Airways because I have a higher status there.

Oh, great point. I just checked my reservation and my United FF# is listed; I need to change that.
I love this forum! Thanks again for all the help.
