Yeah, we also have the best BBQ at a gas station you'll ever find :D
I know this is a bit off-topic, but fare also works in reverse from MCI for the same price, & if you couple it with the fare war to HI from SFO, it makes a compelling R/T from KCI to most of the Islands for as low as $517 ai.

Check out the Boulevard brewery. Haven't been on a tour but they make some delicious beer.

A few miles from the airport is a Harley Davidson plant that give free factory tours (every 1/2 hour or hour?). While not a motorcycle enthusiast I found the plant tour to be fascinating. In addition to learning how they build motorcycles, there appears to be an good/strong working relathionsip between the (union) employees and management and it showed throughout the tour.

Saw OMA for $230 or so.
KC is kind of fun. They've got the plaza, a nice little area to walk around, and a decent art museum.
And more fountains than any city outside of Rome.

Kansas City has tons of things to do. Everybody comes for the BBQ--if you have a rental car try to get to Oklahoma Joe's or Jack Stack or Smokehouse. Everybody always talks about Arthur Bryant's (one of the 1000 things you are supposed to do before you are dead) and Gates, but trust me, the other three places I mentioned are better.
If you like museums, the WWI museum is incredible--designed by the same person who did the Holocaust museum in DC. If you are there overnight, Power and Light District is a bunch of bars and there is a beer house right around the corner from the main bar area. You could go to a Chiefs game if you are there during a home game--based on how bad they have been playing, you should be able to find tickets.

Also, you should get an appointment to go to the Boulevard Brewery tour. Spots fill up fast, so make sure you book well in advance.

I did not understand till I did them all within a 3 week period. Oklahoma Joes is outstanding - food and the overall experience. Fiorellas Jack Stack - really great traditional type eating establishment. I prefer the Jack Stack at Main and 22 rather than the Plaza but that is just me.

Why is this unfortunate? MCI is also in Missouri. As is "downtown" Kansas City. As are probably 9/10 of the attractions you'll want to see while there.

It was unfortunate....
When I came for audition at KU, I booked the flight to KANSAS.
I check everything and I knew I was going to fly to KANSAS CITY.
When I checked in online, I saw MISSOURI........what??
I thought I booked the wrong flight to the wrong state.
I was going to KANSAS and not MISSOURI......
Finally, I realized that the Kansas City Airport is in Missouri and not in Kansas.
It is unfortunate and it's like Manhattan is not in New York City but in Kansas.......:p
