United MileagePlus (Consolidated) - Random 7.99 charge from United?

Sorry if this is in the wrong board.
I received a random charge from United on my Marriott Premier card.
It just says United Air 016XXXXXXXX, Houston, TX, etc etc.
Now, looking back on my other charges, it looks similar to my other charges (ticket, E+ upgrade).
I thought it may be DirectTV, but two things: I haven't flown United in a few weeks (although I did fly AA the other day closer to when this charge happened) and I *do* have a direct TV charge for 7.99 for LTV/United Inflight TV.
What could this be? Should I call them up?
on that note, they still haven't refunded the $49 from a cancelled flight for an E+ upgrade (I chose E+ on another flight so I got charged 2X $49).
Thanks in advance.

Ohhh wow yeah I did buy a meal on my flight. The charge was for 08/31 though but my flight was more like 08/13. That's where the confusion was. Thanks!
Usually, can't you expand the detail in your online CC statement to see the type of charge? E.g. airline ticket charges will be accompanied by the ticket number on the CC statement.
It could help too, if UA would just include a short word in the merchant description to help on issues like this..

They do not hit your CC live. They batch it.

They have salami in the snack boxes now?
This very thing happened to me a couple months ago! Glad to know I'm not the only one. :) Same as pritomd, what tripped me up as well was that there was a lag of a few weeks between when I flew, and when the charge appeared (also it was my first time buying ANYTHING onboard UA so was not used to seeing a charge for so little $). In my case, however, there were no "details" to expand in my online statement - didn't see a ticket number or any description of the charge, and that's what seemed extra strange to me as a normal ticket would have either a ticket number or "fee" in the description. FWIW, I have a United Chase Visa.

Machines on board don't process live, but could never understand why they don't do a data dump of the machines at least daily to the charge, or every time they are through a hub.
On the other hand, my items from flights over the labor day have already been charged. I've never seen it happen so fast. My 8/31 onboard purchases (snack box) cleared my CC account on 9/3, for the return on 9/2, charge is currently pending. Definitely remember my 7/15 flight purchase (also snack box) not clearing for close to a month.

There's probably a schedule that's as long as weeks between dumps, so depending on whether you get charged just before or just after the dump, there could be a lot of variance in how long it takes to post.

Similar story. Flight on July 28 and charge was listed for Aug 31!
I have to lodge expenses within 30 days of incurring them so I couldn't wait for this charge to show up.
