Hi,

Have been checking the net and here. Cant seem to find what I think I am looking for. I currently have the old Continental Presidential Plus Credit Card with the Club Access. It is a Mastercard. I am trying to see difference or if I should get the Visa version, I called chase and there are few differences, anyone know or can give their advice? or have you done this? Chase said I would have to apply again. If I do that will Chase keep my credit limit?

Thanks!!

If your MC is World Elite, stick with it. If it's World, it would be a coin toss to me and not worth changing.

The Visa does not get Flex EQMs.
VERY useful for the years when you do not hit PP easily.

I would keep the old card unless you spend 4-500k a year
Then, the trade off is that a Visa will get more RDMs
so if you are a GS/1K, get the Club Visa as you will have no probs hitting the PP milestone and the extra RDMs help

Are you a UA elite frequent flyer at all (you will get a new membership in each January, except this year)?

If not, Presidential Plus Card may be not a good choice for you.

RDM = Redeemable miles (the kind you can spend for awards).
Flex EQM is a way of getting status miles.

I actually do not have any elite status, former one pass. I am actually am an employee of the New UA. I use it to go to the club and the warranty protection and avoid the foreign transaction fees. What do u suggest? I am still confused.

.... It is a Mastercard. I am trying to see difference or if I should get the Visa version, I called chase and there are few differences, anyone know or can give their advice? or have you done this? ...When I changed OnePlus to Club, I had the choice of MC or Visa. I saw very little difference and since I had another Visa, I kept the MC.
It is decision of little difference.

If you don't see any need for EQM (status miles) then changing to UA Club card is usually better since you get 1.5 miles per $ spend (v.s. 1 mile per $ spend with Pres Plus).

As a UA employee, your rights to enjoy UA benefits like typical customers may be restricted. Somehow, you may get yourself into trouble before you know (that can be lead to termination). AFAIK - ID tickets can't be mixed with other things.

If I were you, I will check with other employees or HR rep to make sure.

BTW - Presidential Plus is not for you. If there is no issue with your M+ membership, then you should switch to Club Card instead (and you should make sure you don't have issue with UCs as well).

You should verify with another agent at Chase whether you have to reapply or if they will simply change your account to the MP Club Card. Others have posted in the past that you can simply transfer the account from PresPlus MC to MP Club Visa (with a new account number).

If you have to reapply, then (after you receive the MP Club Card) you can cancel your PresPlus card and ask the agent to transfer your credit line to the new card.

If you cancel the card, find out if they will prorate the annual fee and give you a refund.

If you were Lt co PC member, the pop card has a $99 annual fee...the mileage plus club card offers no similar discount.

Based on your response ...

What variant of the current card do you have? Is it MC World Elite? If it is, keep it and you are done. If not ...

If they are really going to make you re-apply, just stay with what you have. When you call again, make sure you explain that you were just asking about closing the old card and transferring that credit line to the new Club card. (in the appropriate order so you don't lose the credit line you already have.)

The main difference for you is probably the 1.5 miles per dollar spent for the new club card. I don't think the PQM/EQM earning matters to you based on what you said. (you are an employee that wants to use the card for club access). But if you have other cards, like Chase Sapphire Preferred, you can easily get 2 miles per dollar in several, but not all, spending categories, and you also get a 7% annual boost in your miles on that card, and they transfer to United and several other programs at 1:1.

You can easily go nuts with all this, and if it's too confusing the easy thing to do is to just stay with what you have. We all have different levels of tolerance for what we're willing to do for credit cards and miles.

Thanks for all the help. Basically, just use them for the club access and foreign conversion fees. I will call chase up. So with the New Club card it gives u 1.5 miles vs 1 mile. I don't care about the status. I want the miles so sometimes I can get confirmed tickets when I need to get somewhere. I currently have like 155k.

I will keep you all posted, thanks for the help.
