United MileagePlus (Consolidated) - Can I get to 1K with Premier accelerator?

This year I have so far 50K miles towards elite status.
I would like to purchase another 30K miles with Premier accelerator.
Then I will fly another 20K miles
I will be at 100K by the end of the year.
Question:
Is there a problem with using Premier accelerator to reach 1K?
I am asking because I have tons of flex miles from my Pres Platinum Chase card that I can no longer use for 1K level and before I spend money on Premier accelerator miles I want to make sure.
UA website does not say you are not allowed to use for 1K status. (sorry about the double negative)

Yes. The answer is yes, you can use Premier Accelerator for 1K.
You cannot use Flex EQM to reach 1K, though. And IIRC, if you use, say Flex EQM to reach 0P/Plat, you can still buy Premier Accelerator to reach 1K--but you would have to buy the amount of Flex EQM you used, too, since they can't count toward 1K at all.

Am I the only one who never gets offered Premier Accelerator? I always have offers for extra RDM, but never extra PQM.

After you check the box for the RDMs another box should appear below that offering PQMs. Does that second box not show up or have you not been checking the first box?

I only discovered this last week. But true that - you have to check the RDM offer to see the EQM offer.

I bought 10K miles last year to put me over the top for 1K. In my case it ended up being a waste because I ended up flying the BIS miles anyway.
You will have to spend about $3,000 to get the 30,000 EQM at 7.5 cpm for the EQM and 2.5 cpm for the RDM that you have to buy along with that.
I would think about buying 5,000 miles to get to Platinum and spend the rest of the money next year directly enhancing my travel experience. The only thing of value that 1K brings to me is the somewhat enhanced saver award availability and 100% RDM bonus instead of 75% I have not received a lot of UDU UG's this year, and I have had little luck with the GPU/RPU. The only time I was able to use RPU this year, I would have cleared UDU anyway.
You could spend the couple of thousand that you save to directly buy UG's at check in or book in a higher fare class. If you travel domestically, $450 for a club membership gets you access that 1K does not.
I'm not saying that I know for sure the right way to go - I would just make sure that I understand what I am really getting for 1K vs. Plat vs. Gold and make sure that it is money really well spent.

I have many flex miles so getting to Plat is not a problem and I am so close to million miles that I will have "lifetime gold" soon. I have done fairly well with UDU as 1K and I like the GPU/RPU for the SFO-JFK and SFO-HNL upgrades. I also get $60 off my Pres Plat credit card as 1K. SFO still has better check in facilities for 1K when compared to Plat or other elites. If I fly 100K next year then it is an extra 25K in miles which is another $400-500 in value.
Somebody suggested mileage run; I am not very good at planning them and usually end up paying 6-10 cents per mile anyway - for most of my flights. I cannot afford to take a day off in the middle of the week. Cost benefit analysis will go against mileage run and finding good deals on weekends are harder.

Last year I used FEQM miles to reach plat and BIS to get to 1K from Plat. Are you saying the policy changed? ... yes -- been covered multiple times and confirmed by UA Insider
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/united-mileageplus-consolidated/1239156-presidential-plus-card-changes.html
However maximizer EQMs can be used
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/united-mileageplus-consolidated/1283679-2012-1k-status-feqm-bis-eqm-elite-maximizer-eqm-question.html
....Can you not use FEQM to reach plat?OK for Plat but 1K can not be achieve with ant FEQMs
Yes, the stated policy is that flex miles will not count toward 1K, however, seeing as this is the first year of this new policy and considering the stellar IT work as of late no one can be sure as to what exactly will happen if you do happen to hit 100,000 with flex miles ..
Unless there has been empirical documentation of this somewhere on another thread that is.

#1. i just bought for 37k miles for $694, which is 2¢ a mile. where do i fly for 2cents a mile? 7000 coast to coast RT would be $140. maybe short hops that give 500miles for any trip?
#2. a second thing shows up. i think that is the "premium accelerator". there is a statement next to it that these miles(which are not listed) cannot be used for travel. could someone explain why i need one of these, and what it will do for me?
the 2 cent charge is close to the least expensive i get. . i think the tax pay company will put a charge on my credit card for $.0189 per dollar, which is good for a mile.

Unless the MR is done in one day there will be hotel, food, parking, etc. and other costs. Plus, of course, the time lost sitting on an airplane for no other reason than to accumulate miles.

I'm guessing the coast to coast routing in mind is something like IAD-BOS-SFO-LAX-SFO-BOS-IAD which is probably around 7K PQM RT.

I am aware that my Flex miles are good only to Plat; if I want 1K then it is all flown miles.
I am not worried about million mile status; will get there later this year anyway and will not try to get to 2 millions. I think gold and plat are about the same with small differences in award travel. I just want to get to 1 million, get 1K for one more year and then probably divide up my travel. I may be interested in AA if it joins US.

Well, 3K for 30K PQM is worth it if you get to use all of your GPUs. Until my business travel requirements recently changed to put me over well over 100K miles this year, I was thinking about topping-off for around 5K miles from where I expected to be at 95K. So I really don't think it is a bad deal at all.
The 2 million mile devaluation with the merger is the thing that irks me the most about UA. They reneged on a promise and now my 2 million miler status is worthless to me. I could have really used the extra RPU/GPUs too.

I still cant quite figure out exactly how many EQM you get with Premier Accelerator. For example:
itin:
SAN-LAX 109 miles on UAX
LAX-SAT 1210 miles on UAX
The offer for double miles is something like $129
Premier Accelerator double miles is an additional $99
So the earned EQM would normally be 1710 (1210 + 500 mile minimum). Does the EQM offer hold for 1710 or 1210? I cant find anywhere where it says exactly how many miles you earn on the offer.

It is pretty clearly posted on the offer page, there are two columns
xxxx Extra Miles and yyyy Extra Miles
You can chose the RDM only option or RDM + PQM option. There number of miles is the same for each.
It is hard to predict in advance from you itin the offer, so you must go to the offer page.

I have several itineraries where the PQMs are 8.5 cpm and the regular RDMs are 2 cpm for a total of 10.5 cpm. Some have reported even lower combinations, depending on current status and type of itinerary.

how do premium accelerator miles get me into biz or first on a flight from iad to say cdg? what do they do for me at all. i am very confused about this whole premium accelerator mile thing.
i transfered miles from chase to top off the united m&m account and booked and flew biz class iad-vce, iad-bcn, so far this year, and have iad-lys(not easy) for the end of oct. i did not understand the purchase miles opportunity until last week. i bought the eqm? miles and added them to my acct. would like to find out what and why i buy prem acc. miles.
i'm not a newbie, but i certainly am a confused oldtimer. i just looked at my one pass card. "member since '83" the phone number on it is 1-800-eastern.

First thing, there are different kind of "miles"
RDM -- redeemable/award miles are used for "purchasing" award tickets, upgrades, ...
PQM (or previously) EQM -- Premier Qualifying miles are determining status. This resets annually to zero and earning 25K, 50K, 75, 100K, ... in a given year earns you status -- good through the next year (actually to 31 Jan of the year after)
Lifetime miles is another kind and this can earn "lifetime" status.
With the Accelerator you can purchase RDMs or RDMs plus PQMs (significantly more expensive) depending on your needs.
PQMs will help get upgrades by improving your priority or if you earn 1K status you will get GPU (Global Premium Upgrade certs).

what does "status" do for a member? will it get me into biz class on an award from iad to cdg? will it make awards easier to find or get? if i travel pretty much only biz class, what will it do for me? i get into rcc's and such on my ticket.
if i buy 100,000 eqm miles, can i use them for award travel?

... will it get me into biz class on an award from iad to cdg? ....no
will it make awards easier to find or get? ...
with higher status you might have access to more award inventory
if i travel pretty much only biz class, what will it do for me? i get into rcc's and such on my ticket. ....not much if traveling on award biz travel
....if i buy 100,000 eqm miles, can i use them for award travel?no
Appears you are earning miles from credit cards, so if redeeming for just premium cabin awards, there is not much benefit to status.

Yes.
You will get 6 GPU as soon as you hit 100K EQM.
Please double check but I seem to remember seeing posts that you could only buy up to Platinum, 1K had to be earned by flying. Can't find the thread about it but before you spend the money it would behoove you to verify. Hate to see you spend the money and not get the status.

I believe the FlexEQMs that a PMCO credit card gave are not good for buying up to 1K; Plat only. However, Premier Accelerator and the EQMs from a discontinued PMUA Chase Platinum card do.

It certainly seems odd that they let you buy unlimited EQM's but there is no way to buy EQS (segments). Even after using the Choices program to buy 5 segments I will be two segments short of 1K. Selling segments should be just as profitable as selling miles.

And potentially more so given the segment requirements are often higher (120 PQS vs. 100k PQM, for example). I would recommend doing a segment run if I were you.
