United MileagePlus (Consolidated) - UA lounge access for premier gold?

So- I know if i'm traveling internationally I can (and have) used UA/*G lounges no problem. But what if i'm flying back to the states with a connection in a US city? Looking at the UA website, it states that i need to show an international BP for the same day of travel to use US based locations. But i'm wondering if i show them that i did travel internationally that day and have a local layover, whether that'll work?

also- stupid question- how is UA global first? I have the opportunity to fly for 32500 miles in econ, or 70k in UA global first... (or 65k in business)

I flew UA F last year from FRA and was admitted to F lounge in IAD without an issue.
I thought F was very comfy. Food left a bit to be desired. My entertainment system stopped working in the middle and I got a $200 voucher for that. However, I slept through most of my flight.

I have moved this UA lounge access question to the United forum.

You will get lounge access in the connecting U.S. city. When they scan your boarding pass, they will see that you are traveling on an international itinerary.

Really? I got told off in SFO for just presenting my boarding pass and not explicitly telling her that I wasn't a UC member. She repeated her admonition two more times for emphasis.

Lounge Dragon. Don't take it personally.

I usually tell them something like, "Hi, I am inbound from an international flight and making a domestic connection." while presenting both boarding passes. Most of the time, they never say another word to me.

I always find they want to see the other boarding pass, so make sure to hang onto the used international boarding pass (a good idea for lots of reasons including mileage credit).

Most of the time I find they say "that's a long flight", but then I'm typically doing LAX/SFO - SYD/AKL or v.v. :)

Over 24 hours is not a connection, it is a seperate onward trip.

Heck, I've always just "mistakenly" given them my BP from the international segment. If they want my upcoming BP, I'll just feign ignorance and make some joke about having too many BPs.

99 times out of 100, the BP scan just works. Once it did not - GVA-BRU-EWR-ORD at EWR and I needed to show my UC card. I didn't try the international BP, because I had a UC card, but I am sure that would have worked too.

The UC receptionists can pull up your entire itinerary, either based on oral information or by scanning any BP. But, that takes a lot more time than simply looking at the 2 BP's for 5 secs and waiving you in.

I would normally show my current B/P and Incoming International B/P together as stated above. Always have been greeted with a smile and a welcome.. Never an issue at all. Why not be prepared. I have the B/P's in my Passport Folder anyway.

What's the routing? I usually take C or F over E, and I usually take F over C.

Cheers.

Does the reverse work, i.e.:

I am flying SFO-IAH-CDG this month in First/BusinessFirst. Can I get:
- United Club access in SF?
- International Business Class lounge access in SF? [I know I can get in IAH]

Thanks.

.... I am flying SFO-IAH-CDG this month in First/BusinessFirst. Can I get:
- United Club access in SF? .... Yes @ SFO if IAH-CDF is BF on UA metal
.... - International Business Class lounge access in SF? [I know I can get in IAH] .... UA does not have International Business Class lounges -- but you will have UC access at both airports ( if IAH-CDF is BF on UA metal).
