Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan - DigEPlayer ettiquette - Hang from seatback?

Must be a slow news day, so...
I noticed 2 of my fellow F travelers hanging the DigEPlayer(circle R thingy) by jamming something in between the headrest & the seat in front of them, and hanging the support bar over the item, making for a perfect viewing screen height. One jammed a pen, another gave an extra fold to his emergency briefing card.
Is this A. common practice, B. acceptable
My initial reaction was "Why didn't I think of that?"
Your thoughts?

One of my major complaints about the DigE. With the new device, it's not quite as bad as it used to be (although the content still remains less--and far less fresh--than the AVOD offered by some of the competition), but it is difficult to position the device in a comfortable place (to get it a comfortable viewing distance, it teeters on the back side of the traytable, and I've had it fall more than once), and it's practically impossible to watch anything while eating.
I flew OpenSkies a few years ago, and they had a support arm that was designed to hold the DigE (same model as AS used previously) at a good height and distance and out of the way of the traytable. Not feasible in Y, obviously, but in a business-class/first-class environment, it was passable.
acceptable or common? NO
Although I can completely understand their plight. As mentioned above cant really use it while eating so you may as well just put it away while you eat. What I find more uncomfortable is that if I watch it too long I get neck cramps and kinks from looking at a downward and cocked slightly left or right angle particularly on the long hauls. It is even more so the more you recline. You cant get it at a decent angle like jackal explained. I too have had mine fall or slam down suddenly as well. My fiance has as well and in the proccess spilling a drink. Amazing how Song Air and most international carriers figured IFE in the seatbacks 10 or 15 years ago. Never wouldve expected AS to retrofit all current A/C in their fleet but at some point they shouldve started ordering all new purchases with IFE in the seatbacks. If not the whole plane at least into the F seats. Even add them to coach, heck it would free up the FAs a lot of time handing them out, picking them up, and collecting money. Just add some kind of card swipe to the coach IFE like the phones had @:-)
