hello people..I went through the connections at Indian airport thread and couldn't find an answer to my query and hence creating a new thread... I have an upcoming domestic connection CCU-BOM-BHO..Arrival at BOM is at 23:15 and the departure is at 05:45.. Basically have to kill 6 hrs at the airport.. The morning flight is a Konnect flight..I have never connected through jetairways at BOM, so i am not sure if the Konnect flight will be taken through 1C and thus I will have access to the carnations lounge.. I need your help in figuring out if i will have access to 1C and how soon will i be able to clear security (around 3AM??)..Last experience at 1A with Air India was pathetic..They didn't through check in my luggage at BHO and the check in started only around 3:45. So, i was able to clear security only around 4 :(..Would you recommend staying at a nearby hotel for a 6 hrs connection time?

AI doesnt do overnight check-throughs at BOM for domestic: something to do with shifts and union rules. I will be surprised if Jet does it either. Connecting at BOM has always been a nightmare irrespective of airline, and that was before this whole construction mess started. Which is why i always prefer connecting at DEL.
BHO used to be a fast connect at DEL earlier on IC in the evenings. Now i think Jet has an ATR on the route via Raipur.

Konnect will be through 1C. Lounge access is basis status (gold/platinum for 9wK) and travelling premiere. if you want a good nigh sleep, check into ibis hotel or one of those nearby. better than looking for access and killing your night.

Um there's not such rule. Tons of full service and Konnect flights (Especially to non-metro airports) operate through 1B.
@ OP - JP Silver does not entitle you to lounge access on Konnect anyway unless you're flying Première.

the op will only have about 5 hours to kill....would be a waste of money to check into a hotel....just hang out at the coffee shop at sahara star....

I agree. Its the main reason I choose to fly IC!

Keyser, that is my advise to people as well. they think however that sahara star being a 5* is expensive. there is also the ibis and orchid in walking distance of T1, and they can go the 24 hour coffee shops there as well. orchid even has a midnight buffet which tastes like shaadi ka khana ;)

more reason to stay away from the orchid....:p

Haaahah.. Did that last month when I had a layover to Goa and bumped in to 3 friends there (All 9W Elites) who were doing the same.
Almost like the Sahara Star coffee shop is the new 'unofficial' 9W lounge.

Are those friends of yours also fellow masochist Jet flyers?

Haha.. I'd love to switch to another airline but Jet has the best connectivity out of Goa by far.
5 x Bombay flights daily ensures that I can connect to almost every city in the country via Bombay.
Sadly, it's via Bombay.

I've (fortunately) never done it, but domestic-domestic at BOM doesn't seem that bad. If the layovers were of a bearable duration and at civilised timings, then things should be more or less okay. All problems will likely be airline-created.
Domestic-International is a whole different story of course.

True.. Mostly the absence of a lounge and good restaurants is what hurts since Jet is now flying most of it's planes through 1B (To probably avoid paying for Carnations lounge and the aero bridges).

Thanx for the replies guys... I do have priority pass and MasterCard so, would get access to the lounge... But, as you guys said, I won't have access to 1c in all likelihood... I would take the keyser's idea and check out the coffee shop at Sahara star... Sadly, I have to leave ccu in the evening and have to reach bho before 10am next day.. So the 9W connection via raipur won't work... I think that I should have taken the del connection.. Atleast I would have had access to the plaza premium nap lounges and the airport hotel :(

Just flew thru 1B today.
yes., There is no good place to rest for few hours with a bite other then the CCD shop on the way to 1C (before Security). Interestingly the Good Times Bar/Lounge on the narrow path connecting gates 1-8 & 9-20 has a buffet breakfast for INR 249. The Place looked nice, but I had a very short connection and could not check it out.
Any one been there?

I will check out the good times bar/lounge if it's in 1B.. Decided to check out Sahara star taking keyser's advice... Will let you guys know about this time's experience of an overnight halt at BOM. Although this time I have a solid plan, all thanks to FT..

Yup I've used it a bunch of times.. Food used to be a decent until last year but it's kinda gone down the drain now (Hint, hint). It's the only decent place if you want to grab a bite or a few beers in 1B.
And we call BOM the commercial capital of India. Appalling.
