I am taking a trip to India for the first time. I will be in New Delhi for most of the trip -- also planning shorter trips to Agra and Jaipur (and Chennai for business).

Will one day in Jaipur be enough? I am thinking of taking the train from Delhi which arrives at 10 am and departing the next day on the 6 pm train back to Delhi. Is 2 nearly full days enough to see the major sites in Jaipur or should I stay for another day?

Yes 2 days is enough for Jaipur. There is an ITC Sheraton by the train station & a Marriott outside of town, as well as fancier luxury hotels (one at the former palace of Maharaja Jaipur).

Sights include the palace of the winds & the pink fort north of town & several excellent jewelers.

it all depends....there is enough in jaipur & the surrounding areas to keep you busy for days....but then there are those who feel a day or 2 are enough....

itc has dropped the 'sheraton' name so its just known as the itc rajputana now....still a starwood property though....

another hidden gem is the four points by sheraton on tonk road....its one of the better four points i've ever stayed in & is usually available for around $50-$60 a night....
