View Full Version : Best use of Priority Club Points?

I've 65000 of these, almost all from the 60,000 point promo they offered. At the time I signed up for the card I was staying pretty regularly at an IC Hotel in LA. Now I'm not.

So I have 65,000 points and I'm trying to determine what other programs I can transfer them into and it's pretty dismal. I can get 3000 Avios for my 65000 Priority Club points.

Is there an excepted "best value" for these points or is the best value just in using them for reward nights?

BEST value would be 13 nights at a Points Break location if there is one that meets your needs.

I agree with the above post... just hang onto them until a Points Break hotel comes up that you can use or use them for points + cash. I have spent 60,000 points this year on 12 point break nights.... great value.

Don't understand your maths. PC transfers to airlines at 5 to 1, mostly, so 60k gets you 12,000 Avios.

However, even with decent standard redemptions, you should be able to get at least $400 of hotel stays for your stash, which is a better deal than miles. I used 50k recently for a night in Cannes which was Euro 580 for cash.

Keep saving.....

I saved 2 years worth and this year it paid a good chunk of my summer vacation travel.
3 return flights, UK - Dubai with BA, using p/club points covers the taxes as well so nothing to pay other than points.Flights Anywhere on the redemption page.

I also had enough points left for one £350 night stay at Jumeriah Beach Hotel to add the the rest of my paid nights, again using Hotels anywhere on the redemption page.

Covered just under £3000 of my holiday.....:)

The best value redemption was already mentioned: Point breakers. However, nowadays, you have to watch for the new list to be released and jump in quickly (within days or less) before they disappear.

Transferring your points to airline miles is a terrible idea. Any random hotel redemption will yield more value. Even if you never want to stay at an ICH hotel again, you can do better - ICH has a redemption option for "Any hotel". (I don't know this well, so you'll have to do some more research) I think they basically give you a visa reward $$ card that only work at hotels.

If you still have the ICH visa, your miles don't expire (heck, its easy enough to generate some activity once a year to keep the account active without the card), so you can always have the points and use it for a vacation, emergency trip, or redeem a hotel night for family/friends?

One note: Hotel points/airmiles generally depreciate in value over time. Don't hold on to them for too long...

Just to say I did not convert PC points to miles, I bought flights and hotels on the Hotels and flights anywhere pages, I don't quite know what the poster below means about give you a visa?? You simply choose your hotel and pay there and then with your points, print off your booking confirmation and off you go.

In addition to PBs, PC points are also VERY useful for trips to major cities like New York, LA, London, Sydney, Paris and Tokyo where hotels are typically very expensive. As an example, I just redeemed 25k points for an upcoming Holiday Inn 1 night trip to NYC. Those 25k points saved me $402.00. PC was also basically the ONLY program that had available award nights in NYC the particular night I have to be there. All the hotels were either booked or crazy expensive since there is lots going on in NYC the weekend we are going to be there.

I also just redeemed 200,000 points for an eight night stay at a Holiday Inn in Sydney. We're traveling to SYD during peak season and those 200k points saved us approximately $3,200 USD on hotel.

2 echo with other people said, What I have found for the best deal is points breaks or using them at hotels in major cities. I have a trip to New York City staying at the Crowne Plaza, and that saving me over 1000 dollars.

Same here, though I find the Points+Cash offering more compelling than a plain awards night at many downtown properties. For example, I recently booked 3 nights at a Candlewood Suites in an expensive city for $70 + 10k points per night. Booking those 3 nights at the cheapest flexible rate I could get would have cost about $1000 all in. So my spend of 30k points saved me almost $800, or about 2.6cpp.

I find the redemption rate via flights and hotels anyway very expensive. Without looking I would have thought the above would cost you over 1 MILLION PCR POINT !!

Do you mind if I ask exactly how many it cost?

I've just returned from a 19 day vacation on New York and Los Angeles and it was completely done using Points.

A quick calculation of what I actually received, including upgrades, complimentary wifi, breakfast, club lounge access, etc. and I reckon it saved me over $7,000

Flights were 130k points each and the hotel night was 140k. I watched the flights on the pc website daily, the amount of points needed made a sharp dive just before ba had their sale, so booked straight away.

I booked cattle and managed to get club on the flights when I arrived.
