I'll be heading to Spain next month, and need to pay the remainder of our apartment rental in cash. Since we'll be arriving later in the evening, I'm worried about having the bank decline us on taking out $1,100 euros from the ATM. Instead I figured I'd just order euros from my bank (Wells Fargo) ahead of time, then use ATM's for other spending money while in Barcelona.
Wells Fargo allows me to use a Visa or Mastercard to purchase the euros. Their T&C say that orders placed by CC are posted by WF as a misc purchase and are normally posted as a purchase on my CC. They say they do not assess a cash advance fee on the transaction, but other CC's might.
I'd like to put it on a CC to cover meeting my minimum spend, but definitely don't want a cash advance fee. Anyone have experience with this?
Here's the exact T&C:
Orders paid for with a credit or debit card are posted by Wells Fargo as a miscellaneous purchase, and are normally posted as a purchase on your card statement. Wells Fargo does not assess a cash advance or other transaction fee related to a credit or debit card transaction. However, your card issuer may independently assess a cash advance or other transaction fee which could be included on your card statement. Please check with your card issuer regarding any fees.
