KLM Flying Dutchman - Flying Blue Platinum and Delta benefits, Economy Comfort

Booked on AF.com a ticket str-atl-was and back, outward KLM flight number operated by Delta and return AF flight number on AF

Could select instantly an exit row seat for my AF seats, but could not get any seaat assignments on my KLM/Delta flights. Neither regular economy nor Economy Comfort.

Called first FB Platinum desk but they could not do anything and was given a KLM number to call. Called KLM and was told that choosing any Economy Comfort seats or any Preferred searts is not possible on any codeshare flights at all. Since my KLM flight number/Delta operated flight falls under that rule, they could not assign me any EC/P seat, best they could do was second last row-middle seat, certainly not my favorite. Only way to get me any of the EC/P seats was adressing that issue at the check-in counter directly with Delta.

Looking up that flight on Delta.com reveals plenty of availability on Economy Comfort and Preferred Seats. And looking up the EC/P seat regulation on Delta.com tells me that they are complimentary for for FB Plats.

Is my experience the standard for FB Plats benefits on Delta (certainly useless if they treat me as ordinary customer and ending up in the second last row) or do you have any idea what I could do to get a pre-assignment of EC/P seats before others take them????

Thx....

Try calling Delta and getting them to fix the seat assignment is what I would suggest.

I'm having exactly the same issue as you (look at the thread below from post #474)

I didn't call DL yet.

Had the same issue - a call to Delta in the USA solved it. It's bizarre that this is the only way to get things sorted out.

If it makes you feel better, us DL folks have the same issues with AF/KL seating. :-( So much for an "enhanced" JV relationship.

Just did it.... called Delta in the US and within seconds I had my EC seats.

Before I called Delta in Europe and they told me that only Delta in the US can do the seat assignments.

On a side note, I can not remember when I last called an airline for seat assignments. Internet and websites are usually of great help, but with Delta, what is 21st century technology????? Telephone?!?!?!

So does that mean that Flying Blue Plats get seated in Eco Plus on DL metal when purchasing any Eco fare?

Just booking FLL-NYC for my wife on a low eco fare. Purchase on DL's US website. She is FB Plat. Will she automatically be seated in Eco Plus section of the aircraft? Or do I have to call DL in the US to get her seat assignment changed to the Eco Plus section? Is there a fee to be paid for Eco Plus seats for SkyTeam Elite Plus members?.

Thanks for any info

For US domestic trips, Economy Comfort is free for all Skyteam Elite+ PAX. It is easy to select a seat online on delta.com, under 'My Trips'.

No fee for elite+ members. No need to call, this is easy to do on-line. An important tip to know : the booking needs to be ticketed to be allowed to book the EC seats for fee. To be clearer : if you select your seats as part of the booking/purchasing process, you won't be able to have the EC seats for free. So just select any seat, finish the booking, pay and when you receive the confirmation right after, return in MMB and change the seats for the EC ones.
