Hertz - Asheville (AVL) Full Size

I am going to be renting a car for 3 days in October and have a full size reserved. I have gold and was wondering what people's experiences are renting at AVL. Any upgrades, as we are going up to the mountains in Maggie Valley and the driveway is partially gravel going up. The rental company said it would be good to have a car with 4WD but hertz said that a full size car will do just fine with mountains and gravel.

I've taken Impalas on dirt roads here in Utah; a full-size should be fine. I've also taken a Crown Vic on a wet gravel road once -- didn't realize it was gravel until I started hearing the pebbles hitting the car (gotta love that suspension).
