Flying LHR-DXB-BKK and then back via DXB to LGW in J
I didn't realise when booking that not all EK J seats are flat bed - my own fault for not checking!
I have two sectors (LHR-DXB and BKK-DXB) on the A380 and have selected 18k for both, is this ok?
On the other two legs DXB-BKK and DXB-LGW i am on 777-300ERs.
The first is configured 2-3-2 with the smaller forward cabin and deep recline seating. The second is also 2-3-2 but with a single cabin of 6 rows and angle lieflat. I have selected 10j and 9f at present.
Any help with which seats would be better would be greatly appreciated.
Stu.
18K in the A380 is just a regular J window seat in the main cabin. I (and others) prefer 23A or 23K in the rear cabin. Very private due to the bulkhead and close to the bar and bathrooms without being too close.
Even though your 777 flights show up as different cabin layouts in MMB, I'm pretty sure they will be the same with a small cabin of 2 rows and a larger one. The image for some flights on MMB is misleading. Row 6 will probably be blocked so I would go for Row 7 as the smaller cabin is my preferred choice. Aisle or window - take your pick.

7k on the 777 would be my choice.:D The window is a bit wonky but good if you want to sleep.

During my last MAN_DXB trip, I actually realized that 23A/K isn't as private as I thought it was. Main reasons:
1. The way the highly concave mirror on the Bulkhead is angled, Seat 23A/K can virtually see everything that Seat 22D/G is up to and vice versa. Plus, the guy in seat 22D/G can also peek directly inside your seat everytime he turns left/ right to look through the window.
2. It seems to have just a wee bit less legroom.

I prefer the main J cabin on the A380, just make sure you get a window seat. The smaller cabin in the rear just seems claustrophobic and that little bit noisy (sitting behind the engines/maybe its just me) Also, you get all the people passing through to the bar/toilets from the front, while in the main cabin a fewer ratio of people pass by you. Note that on certain flights, the bar can be busy and the noise does carry through the cabin.
On the B77W, the smaller cabin is good. Row 6 is blocked so you need to check in early to get. Row 7 on all my flights has a missing window. I recommend row 6, 9, and 10. Row 8 is too close to the Lav and row 11 is the last row and it is against the Y bulkhead and the accompanying bassinet seats.

I just returned from DXB-JFK on the 380, and sat in 18k. I felt it was a standard seat, and since your in the middle food service took some time.
Whatever you do, do not sit in 26 D-G, last row middle before the bar and bathrooms. This is a very busy area, and the curtain will be open and closed hundreds of times during your flight.
