Am I the only one who finds this rather bizarre? To fly from Clark to Kalibo, only to fly back from there to Clark in order to connect to a Hong Kong flight???!! ... is that?

This is not uncommon. Airlines sometimes charge more for direct flights than for bizarre routings, knowing that many people will pay extra to save some time.
