Greetings all. I need to ask for advice on the above.
I have an award ticket MNL-NRT with JAL and then a connection NRT - DFW with AA on September 6th. The connection time is a little less than 4 hours and no visa is required for entry to Japan (German passport holder)
Although it looks feasible when checking NRT layouts I have no idea if in reality it is possible although my view with what I have seen would be yes. But hence the ask for advice.
I also know or should I say assume that th traveller would need to pass through customs and then go back to departures to check in for the AA flight. This is because the two are not code shared and I have been told the luggage for example cannot be checked all the way but needs to be oicked up in NRT.. The reservations MNL - NRT then NRT - DFW are in fact are two separate bookings due to availability or should I say non availability.
Therefore I welcome advice based on the following and on the assumption that
- Arrival from MNL at NRT you need to pass through customs, collecting bags and passing immigration
- Time to get from the arrivals hall back up to departures and time to check back in again (mentioning that the award NRT-DFW is in First Class again due to no other availability..
Is the four hour timeframe sufficient and what would the minimum time allowance be to do this? The oth point to note is that due to ticket restrictions if the MNL -NRT flight misses the AA connection then there is no forward travel from NRT as the two tickets are not linked. Does one therefore take the risk (to those who perhaps know the punctuality of the MNL-NRT flight which I can't seem to readily find in the web?..
For me it all looks fine but any and all advice welcome, plus advice on avoiding any pitfalls....:-)))
Many thanks..
