United MileagePlus (Consolidated) - IAH <-> POS in United Economy; What to Expect?

I am going to POS next month, via IAH, for some Rum & Relaxation and would like to know what sort of service to expect.
From what I can tell from SeatGuru, the seats in cattle class do not have power ports. Is that correct?
What sort of entertainment is available? Is there a cost?
What sort of meal service is available going down or coming back? Are alcoholic beverages complimentary? (This would make sitting like a pretzel for 6 hours a little more palatable).
Is there anything else that I should expect?
Cheers

What sort of aircraft are you on? Most of the 737-7/8/900s have power ports in rows 21 and forward.

No.

UA is showing a 737-800 but I am likely to be further back than row 21, which incidentally does not have power, at least according to SeatGuru.

Seatguru is notoriously inaccurate for the UA fleet. On aircraft that have DirecTV (which is almost all of them) all of the F cabin and rows 7-21 of the Y cabin have AC power.

As noted above, alcohol will not be free and I'm not sure what they offer on these flights for a meal service - the website says "snack" if that helps :)

I will be traveling from EWR-POS (via IAH) next month. What are the upgrade chances for a UA Plat? Also, any advice on the best hotel to stay at - i hear the Hyatt is nice...
Thanks in advance,
Chad

So many posts on bad airline codes. Poor Sioux City, Iowa.

It isn't an elite-heavy destination, but does have paid J at times (oil and banking guys). I would say your upgrade has a very good chance as a Plat. This is a route I normally take on AA (much nicer airplane), and have never missed an upgrade.
The Hyatt is very nice and I don't think you will be disappointed unless you are looking for a resort. The hotel is a "business" class hotel as the city isn't exactly a typical Caribbean holiday spot!

For IAH-POS, there is a light meal (chicken pattie on a bun, mini carrots, small salad). There is an overhead entertainment system. There are no laptop plugins. It's pretty sparse.
For POS-IAH, there is a light breakfast of a cheese omlet in a bun with a muffin. It's the same plane coming back so the set up is also sparse.
The Hyatt is very business-like. It is downtown and within easy commuting distance of the commercial center.

Both planes (IAH-POS and EWR-POS) are usually the same 737-800 as they hot swap in Trinidad. No E+ (save for the exit row and bulkhead next to the mid-cabin lav), no in-seat power and entertainment on overhead video screens, usually showing a movie or two and then a few TV shows. Food is sparse, booze costs money.
As far as upgrades, I've made them as a Gold/Plat on G fares and I've also missed them when F is booked with paying customers. YMMV
