Nice simple direct flight - sample date Sept. 28, return Sept. 29
4892 miles for 3.84 cpm.
Routing through DFW can probably get better cpm.

Same day returns are visible but seem to be unbookable. Both 9/6 and 9/29 show on ITA and AA as same day returns for SAN-JFK-ORD-SAN but upon clicking through I get a system error.
Looks like US just matched.

I also see: AA: LAX-BOS $226ai
Sample:
Sept 22 LAX-BOS-LAX $226ai (5200mi ~4.3cpm)

Looks like you can do LGA as well and do same-day returns from SAN. SAN-DFW-LGA-DFW-SAN is available for $209. CPM isn't as good though.

I also see: AA: LAX-BOS $226ai
Sample:
Sept 22 LAX-BOS-LAX $226ai (5200mi ~4.3cpm)
SAN-BOS also pricing out around $243-$250 AI. Not at my computer so I can't try much of anything.
ETA: Some weekday availability connecting in JFK on the outbound from BOS, with the nonstop back to BOS. 500 mile min could give a few extra miles.
ETA2: BOS-SFO via LAX same day turns out there for a similar cpm.

So....
Book Two one way tickets. ^
$94 OW (2446 Miles)
Not really many more miles to be harvested by routing thru DFW (2562) or ORD (2463), and would cost $22 more RT.

You, sir, are a genius!!! Not used to seeing one-ways as half fare for roundtrip.

Not sure 250 is a match of 188.
But just successfully got in a JFK-LAX-RDU-LGA for 238 on DL. Thanks OP.

Has this been pulled from SFO. Unable to see anything at this price on AA.
Whoa! A terrible rate for a mileage run, but a great price to New York for a mini-vacation.

i see LGA-DFW-SAN-DFW-LGA for 4912 miles at $210. i guess with EXP 2x for 9824 that brings the RDM's down to 2.14 cpm which... i dunno if that's any good or not. i don't do this often. be nice.

That's about double a good m/r rate. But, as I said, it's a good price for a round trip ticket to New York. I just booked a mini-vacation over the weekend of Sept. 8.

doh i just realized this conflicts directly with the UA MR i wanted to do to BUR.
ah, decisions decisions...
edit: ah maybe this is how i fix it. found LGA-DFW-SJC-DFW-LGA for 257.2 which with the exp bonus makes it 2.27CPM for RDM's. pretty much on par with the LGA-SAN one earlier...

Conventional wisdom is to calculate cpm using EQM's... RDM's get kinda mushy for comparisons, and EQM's are needed for reacihng elite status.

I tend to use either or. If I can get it at 2 cpm for eqms or 1 cpm for rdms, then I consider it to be a good MR rate, even if the other calculation doesn't work out.

when was the last time you saw a 2cpm eqm MR deal this year on AA? ;)

Most MRs that have been posted on here of late have far exceeded 2 cpm. A rate of 4 cpm isnt "terrible"

Jet Blue still has it on Sept 10 at $188. Scored two of these on Delta before it flew away, more of a destination run than an MR.
NYC in September, please no rain or oppressive heat...

Hoc answer: quote: March..
Do tell !! What were the specifics of the AA 2 EQM MR deal this past March... I missed seeing this and it would be a great frame of reference. Was it the one-time only SFO mistake fare that lasted for 2 hours, or something more accessible...??

There were $200 round trip tickets to Chicago from LAX which, with the promotions then in effect, got you 10,500 eqms round trip. Using the Costco gift cards, the tickets cost $180.00 each, which worked out to about 1.7 cents per eqm. Also, one round trip for $317.80 to BCN from LAX which, with promotion, was 24,000 eqms. That was 1.3 cents per eqm.
I also found one LAX-FLL trip that netted me 12,840 eqms for $256 which, after application of the Costco cards, actually only cost $230 -- also 1.7 cents per eqm.
