Air New Zealand Air Points - Gold Elite partner lounge access in HK?View Full Version : Gold Elite partner lounge access in HK? dkirkpat Aug 20, 12, 2:47 pm My wife, and gold elite partner nominee, is flying NZ39 from HK to London next month. Does anyone know if she will be given access to one of the *A lounges in HK before the flight? Thanks. DanNZ100 Aug 20, 12, 2:52 pm Yes any of the star lounges in HK. United lounge is ok and so is Thai.. Just show your "Star Alliance Gold Lounge Pass" that Air NZ would have sent your wife along with their boarding passes and bingo.. WLG Base Aug 21, 12, 3:35 am I'm in the UA lounge at present waiting for NZ80. NZ sign is at the entrance and an NZ representative is at the front desk. I prefer this lounge over the TG one. Rebound Aug 21, 12, 4:33 pm I also thought the UA Lounge was good and the shower facilities were also excellent. craver Aug 23, 12, 4:45 am Yes any of the star lounges in HK. Do GE partners get full star gold lounge access rights now? As a GE I received a Star Gold lounge access card, but my GE partner only got a GE partner card which does not have the Star Gold symbol. zqsn5678 Aug 23, 12, 5:39 am Do GE partners get full star gold lounge access rights now? As a GE I received a Star Gold lounge access card, but my GE partner only got a GE partner card which does not have the Star Gold symbol. GE partner is NOT star Gold, so no star gold symbol on the card. GE partner is only recognised on the NZ service. craver Aug 23, 12, 6:34 am Exactly as I understood it... nzchick Aug 23, 12, 9:20 pm Although interestingly my son (basic Air NZ Jade member, but also my gold elite partner) has had *G printed on all his NZ boarding passes AND it also printed like that on our recent flights on Thai (x4) & Swiss (x2) last month. When Thai & Swiss scanned the passes it showed him as having lounge access (& he was on an economy ticket). So perhaps the way Air NZ enters it into their system flows through to other star alliance airlines as *G? Only explanation I could think of. Trumpkin Aug 23, 12, 10:22 pm Similarly for my GE partner, her recent flights showed NZ*G on the boarding passes. Plus her GE partner card has the Star Alliance symbol on it. zqsn5678 Aug 23, 12, 11:23 pm Similarly for my GE partner, her recent flights showed NZ*G on the boarding passes. Plus her GE partner card has the Star Alliance symbol on it. on the membership cards, "GOLD" should be printed underneath the Star Alliance symbol. GE partner cards dont have "GOLD". NZ*Trout Aug 24, 12, 12:44 pm So perhaps the way Air NZ enters it into their system flows through to other star alliance airlines as *G? Only explanation I could think of. That's been my experience - as long as the GE partner is not NZ*S, in which case *S is correctly promulgated. nzchick Aug 27, 12, 1:18 am So in this scenario you are actually better off if you are of LOWER status? Lol, good one NZ :) Shazzadude Aug 27, 12, 1:20 am Haha, that's pretty funny. NZ*Trout Aug 27, 12, 3:12 am So in this scenario you are actually better off if you are of LOWER status? Lol, good one NZ :) That's not really fair. It's not a matter of being "better off". It's a matter of being able to take advantage of a loophole in the system to obtain a benefit that is neither published nor intended. And of course there is a record of name and AirPoints number with each lounge entrance so if NZ felt the system was being abused they could look through and either change the system (though it seems that's not easy, hence how things are currently), or suggest to GE Partners that they not undertake such abuse. Given the costs incurred, and the relative value (not that NZ really things that anymore ) these travelers represent, I would imagine the chances of that happening is relatively low. |
