Mr. Kipper and I are staying at the Hotel Palomar Philadelphia later this year. We're celebrating an anniversary and taking in a concert. We opted to stay there because we didn't want to drive back after the concert, and if we board the dogs, it's about $60/night, plus we need to pick them up by noon, or else pay an extra $30. I managed to snag a rate of $89 for the night, so even with the $40 parking charge, it's well worth it.
It's Mr. Kipper's first Kimpton experience, and while I'm sure they won't disappoint, I didn't know if I should prepare him for anything like a very small room, etc.

I spent 5 days there last November-- it's a pretty classic "Kimpton" experience-- the lobby is hip and loud and filled with art that I do not understand. There is a free happy hour every evening with wine and very tasty popcorn with truffle salt. Elevators are reasonably fast. Room was small but not microscopic and the bathroom was not overly cramped. If you join the loyalty club, you get free wifi and a $10 mini-bar credit.
The hotel is within walking distance (15 minutes) from Reading Terminal Market (roast pork sandwich at DiNic's... yum) and Rittenhouse Square, and maybe 30 minutes walk from the Liberty Bell and associated historic sites.

I'm an Inner Circle member. :)
We probably won't do the traditional historic sites, although we may tour the Masonic Temple the following morning.

I stay here a couple of times a year. The location is quite good as walking distance to everything. They probably have one of the better Kimpton restaurants and their bar is quite popular for weekday happy hour.
I've stayed in both the spa room and the 1 bedroom suite. Either upgrade you get, both rooms are nice. Spa room has no living room, but has a nice view from the bathroom. The 1bedroom suite bathroom has no view, but is spacious (bathroom is bigger than the bedroom). Compared to other suites in the Palomar category, these are probably on the smaller side.
Lindsay Black is also my favorite front desk agent at this property. I usually have four things in my IC profile and the Hotel Palomar always prepares all four (Champagne, Chocolates, Fruit/Cheese Plate, and fresh flowers), unlike most properties that opt for 2 out of the 4. Ms. Black makes sure that everything is delivered to the room :)
Have fun! If you are arriving on or after October, you should probably be there when they open the new Kimpton property, the Monaco. Should be different as they built it from the ground up!

The Monaco is a rehab too just like the Palomar but I am still excited to stay there. I have a few nights booked the first week of December and look forward to the rooftop bar which I bet will be great!

I'm very jealous of your $89/night room(if you have a secret, please PM me). I have never gotten anything close to that but the hotel is my favorite in Philly because of things like the location and the tray of cannolis in the morning. I have stayed there about five times in the last two years each time while the rooms were very nice they were VERY small. That doesn't bother me because this was a rehab of the old AIA building which is pretty cool and the bathroom fixtures are nice which is an absolute requirement of mine when I return to hotels. All staff was very pleasant and while somewhat high parking charges are a pet leave of mine, I swallowed it because in this location ive only found out that you save a few bucks parking at another garage.
In terms of by "best" kimpton experience I think this has the nicest staff by far but if you want a blow out room you've gotta stay at a place like their Epic in Miami which has some of the most beautiful rooms I have ever stayed.
The only Kimpton I have ever stayed in in which I will never return is the Vero Beach Resort every other one i have stayed has been great and look foward to trying the Denver Monaco in two weeks myself!

89/night was a Kimpton Intouch special I believe.
