I have an 8:45 pm flight from LGA to YUL, and I'll be arriving at the airport by rental car from central NJ. I've done this drive to JFK before, but never to LGA. But it seems similar in its potential for traffic problems -- especially since I'll have to transit Staten Island and Brooklyn in rush hour -- so I plan to leave extra time.
If the Traffic Gods smile on me and I have an hour to spare, is there a good place to get a quick meal close to LGA before returning my rental car? Something like pizza, a deli, takeout, etc? Thanks for any recommendations. I assume we'd do better eating near the airport than AT the airport.

Ben's Best kosher deli on Queens Boulevard near 63rd Drive in Rego Park. Nick's Pizza on Ascan Avenue between Austin and Burns streets, Forest Hills (whole pies only). For slices, try Gloria Pizza on Queens Boulevard between 71st (Continental) Avenue and 71st Road, Forest Hills, next to the Midway Theater.
Each location is about a 15-minute drive to LGA. Allow some time to find on-street parking.

Northern Blvd. is your friend. A ton of eateries and many ethnic (Latin/Central America and not too far from great Thai & Indian further south {Jackson Heights}).
If you have the time - depending on the roadway chosen - you can take Northern Blvd from 59th St Bridge, or take BQE South to Northern Blvd and take it East. You will see places as you driveby. I can't suggest anything unless I know your taste and whether a grab & go or sit down eat and get to airport.

If you want something real close, I would recommend Jackson Hole. It's a rinky-dink diner that specializes in huge burgers and milk shakes. Do a search for "Jackson Hole Astoria" and you should get the homepage.
The exact address is 6935 Astoria Blvd, Astoria, NY 11370. It's on the west-bound Grand Central Parkway about 10 blocks from LaGuardia (Marine Air Terminal side). You can take the local roads back.

Thanks for the tips. I guess I'll need to look at them more carefully. I think we are looking for takeout (I doubt we'd have enough time for a sitdown meal), and I think we'd like the place to be within a mile or two of LGA.
