Hilton HHonors - Hotel canceled my reservation - but I was checked into the hotel already

I am unsure when exactly my hotel reservation was canceled, but today I noticed that my hotel reservation had been canceled in my account. The weird thing is I had been staying at the hotel for 2 days and had checked out earlier today.

My friend was actually the person who checked into the hotel (her name was on the reservation). We did not receive a bill upon check out which was kind of odd. I'm not exactly sure how much total was charged, but since they already charged my credit card for the first night in advance (she paid for the second night), I know my night was the correct amount.

We booked the Hilton because of the points promotion, but since the room was canceled, I doubt I will receive points. Also, since we were not given a bill upon check out, I'm not sure how to appeal to Hilton.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Why did you not ask for a bill? It's probably just a glitch, and will fix itself, but if you are doing it for credit, always ask for a receipt before leaving.

I think we were just confused, the hotel said we didn't need it (I think they meant since we had paid for the room).

Are there often glitches where the reservation appears under "cancellations" in your HHonors account? I've never had this happen before....

it happened to me last week. i think because the hotel upgraded me so thy canceled the original booking through Hilton and then rebooked through there system.

Waiting to see if points will be posted automatically

Of course this could just be the new "crap" hilton software problem......

Did YOU check in as well? If YOU did not check in yourself and you were the person paying for the first night, you were marked as a no show and you will not get points for the room. If you did not check in, you have no recourse because you have no proof you were there. Your friend, however, can get the points since he/she did check in.

For advance payment res, you MUST check in if you are the name on record for the payment. Doesn't matter if the second person checks in w/o you. OTW you are a no-show.

You have no proof you were there, so HHonors cannot help you. They will call the hotel who will have no record of you checking in.

This happened to me in the past. My friend check in beofre me. I was the person on record for payment. Because I did not stop by the desk to check in, HHonors could not verify w/the hotel I was there. Hence, no points or stay credit.

Hilton's T&C state you do NOT get points/stay credit for no-show situation. This includes advance payment situations. If you do not check-in, you are deemed a no-show. There are ppl trying to game the system by finding a very low-cost hotel anywhere in the country & doing an advance pay w/o checking in. Just paying in advance is not enough. No check-in, no credit.

It actually wasn't an advanced payment reservation. It was a fully refundable reservation cancelable until the day of. They precharged my credit card the day before and there is another charge that was made on the day I arrived as well.

I did not check in, as I already had the key. My friend wasn't told that I had to check in too. I never had this be a problem. Her flight arrived 5 hours earlier than mine. I wish the hotel called the room or notified me in some way to ask me to check in too. It's disappointing I chose to stay at the Hilton over another less expensive hotel.
