Marriott Rewards (including Ritz-Carlton) - Using eCertificates at nearby hotels for 2 concurrent stays

I've got several eCerts expiring in late September. Traveling with some friends for an NFL road game in September and want to maximize the certificates. I know (or I believe) I can't book two rooms at the same property for the same dates, as the account holder must check into the room (told this by Marriott reservation agent). I did book one room in each of two Marriott properties near each other however, online using the certificates. Is there any way for Marriott to tell - and cancel or charge my credit card for one of these stays? Or will I be able to check into one property, then give key(s) to my friends staying there while I go check into the other?
Thx in advance for your advice,
-D

Assuming you're talking about free nights from the Megabonus promo, you should have no problem.

I would book two at the same hotel. I can't imagine there would be a problem. Maybe you like a lot of space; connecting rooms!?

The account hold can certainly book and check into more than 1 room at a hotel.

Thank you. Not sure why Marriott said the holder can't check in twice. Interestingly, once I used the first two certificates and confirmed the full service Marriott, it did not come up as an option in my next search at the same location (I.e. like it was keeping me from choosing that property again).

it's possible there was only one award room left. Keep checking, another room may pop up at some time. two rooms at the same hotel at the same time, no problem. I've done four before. For the Megabonus certs, doesn't matter who stays in the room as long as you check in.
